TENAGA signed two agreements for Ulu Jelai Hydroelectric project

  • TENAGA signed two agreements for the Ulu Jelai Hydroelectric project in Pahang. Total value of the contracts is RM2.15 billion. Contract runs for 5 years.
  • On-going efforts by to provide peak load capacity in order to meet increasing electricity demand and improve power system security by using renewable energy.
  • It involves building a dam and installing two hydro turbines and generators in an underground power station with a total installed capacity of 372MW in Cameron Highlands.
  • The project is part of the 4 billion ringgit investment Tenaga has pledged for mainland Malaysia. At the same time to reduce carbon emissions.
